EHA Response
The EHA Relief team is continuing its relief operations in the flood affected areas of Madhepura, Bihar. The two community kitchens run by the EHA Relief Team have been providing two hot meals per day to more than 2,74,076 people.

Out of 50 clinics targeted EHA Mobile Medical Team has been able to cover 54 clinics. The Relief team continues to provide safe drinking water, sanitation measures, Chlorine tablets, Halozen powder and ORS packets to the flood–affected people.

The EHA relief team continues to distribute food relief packets to the people. As on October 21, 2008, the team has provided 9091 food relief packets.

 



 

Transformation Stories

Rani Murmu looked forward to the birth of her fifth child. At 36, and already having four girls, Rani hoped it would be a boy this time. Rani is a Malto tribal. The Malto tribes are a primitive tribal group living in the hills in Jharkhand. The death rate among the Malto tribals are so high, that it exceeds the birth rate. The infant mortality rate of 147 and Maternal Mortality rate of 460 are pointers to this grave situation.
