LALITPUR COMMUNITY HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Harriet Benson Memorial Hospital

The Community Health and Development Project of HBM hospital Lalitpur is among the pioneering projects of EHA. Started about 30 years ago, the project initially focused on immunization and health teaching. Later, the project started non-medical interventions for the development of communities in Lalitpur district. The project now works in 40 villages under 2 blocks (Block Jakhora and Block Birdha).

Projects:

1. PACS Project

90 Women SH Groups, Facilitating NREG and RTI Acts in the grassroot level, Livelihood Promotion.

2. Water Aid Project

Construction of 100 low cost toilet,10 vermi compost units, 7 kitchen gardens, 7 washing platforms.

Promotion of women's group and children's group for hygiene promotion in the area

teachers' capacity building training, PRI worksops etc

3. CHASINI Project

Quiz competition for students on HIV -AIDS, Adolescent group formation, HIV-AIDS counselling and referral services, Young couples workshop, safe sex promotion, Village leaders' capacity building etc.

Key Accomplishments

  • Water Aid - Seven hand pumps were installed and 141 sanitary latrines constructed in the villages.
  • Health & Development - Regular health awareness and medical camps were conducted. 350 peer educators were given trainings on HIV/ AIDS and related issues. 90 Self Help Groups were formed.
